Euro 2000 is widely considered to be the last major soccer tournament where the Romanian national football team had a notable presence and performance. Romania defeated and eliminated England for a second tie in a row to qualify out of their group and would only stop in the Quarter Finals of the competition losing against Italy who played the Final that year.
